Welcome to your one stop shop for important information regarding Year 3! If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to catch us in the playground before or after school, send a note in with your child, or make an appointment to see us via the school office.
Your child has been given a colour banded school reading book, which they should be reading at home on a daily basis. Even 5 or 10 minutes a day can make all the difference in your child's reading progress. Please make sure you record when you read with your child at home and what page number they have reached in their red reading diaries. When their book needs changing it is the child's responsibility to put it in the book box in class, and it will be changed and discussed withMrs Tighe/Mrs Luscombe/Mrs Kohler that day. We will also be encouraging children to write the occasional book review
Every Monday new spellings will be given out for a test the following Monday. These will follow the spelling patterns that they are learning in their Phonic groups Please make sure your child brings their blue spelling books into school on Monday
Children will be tested on a Tuesday
It is incredibly important that your child practices their times tables regularly at home. We will be looking at x4, x6, x8, x9 tables in class, but will recap the x2, x3, x5, 10 regularly. At home try quick bursts whilst travelling too and from school, interactive times tables games on the web and mini challenges to keep their brains ticking! We will be using the ever popular Percy Parker to help them with their rapid recall.
Homework is given out on Wednesday to be handed in the following Tuesday, giving the children ample time to complete homework. For the first part of this term, homework needs to be completed ready for Big Write on Tuesday afternoon. Children can attend also homework club after school on a Monday if time at home is an issue.
Our normal PE days are Monday and Thursday Please make sure that your child has PE kit: white t shirt, white shorts, plimsolls for indoors AND trainers for outside PE, in school during the whole week as we will make the most of any nice weather or outdoor opportunities.
Mrs Tighe's and Mrs Luscombe's PPA time is on a Thursday afternoon. This will be covered by Mrs Kohler who will be teaching ICT, RE and PHSE
