A Little About the PTA.
Chairperson: Nicola Oke
Secretary: Jenny Leeds
Treasurer: Lynsey Woolcock.
The committee meet several times during the school year to plan events. In addition there are many people who help with the smooth running of these events on the day. Whether you would like to join the committee or offer your help at one of our planned events please contact us. Leave your name and number with Mrs Tothill and we will contact you. However much or little time you may be able to spare your help is always appreciated.
The regular events we hold include the always popular discos, Halloween is usually a fancy dress disco, with prizes for the best dressed boy and best dressed girl. There are usually about four or five discos during the school year.
Each year we hold a fete, the last two years this has been held in May and even though the weather hasn’t been kind to us the fetes are very popular. This Christmas saw the return of a Christmas Fair, Father Christmas was kept busy again and there were lots of games and the raffle prizes included were six nations rugby tickets at the millennium stadium and Argyle tickets.
At Easter time, we run events such as the egg hunt or decorate an egg competition, with all of the children getting involved.
One recent event was a fashion show held at school with pupils taking part as the models, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
A bingo night was held and proved very popular that it is planned to hold another quite soon.
The PTA helps the school in a variety of ways. Over the recent years the PTA has helped with the purchase of outside play equipment and helped with the cost of replacing the sports kits worn by the school teams.
Each year the PTA provides the presents given to the infant children from Father Christmas at their Christmas parties, and the prizes for the various party games. In past years a Tea Dances and BBQs have been held, supported by the PTA.
Once a year a travelling theatre group visit school and the PTA funds this.
As you can see the role of the PTA is varied so if you feel inclined to get involved please contact us. It can be fun and a great way to meet new people.
