Welcome to Year 6!
Welcome to the Year 6 page!
This term we will be learning all about The Amazon. Find out more by reading through the Topic Information sheet below.
Your child should bring a reading book and reading diary home with them everyday. It would be great if you could read with your child two or three times a week and question them about what they have read. This really helps to develop comprehension skills. Please sign the reading diary when you have listened to your child read.
Your child should bring a list of spellings home with them on a Friday. They are tested on these words the following Friday so please ensure they practise the words at home. A good way of doing this is by reading the word, covering it and then having a go at writing it.
Homework is given to your child every Friday and should be returned to school on the following Thursday.
Please continue to encourage your child to learn their times tables. Knowing them really helps in many aspects of maths.
P.E. is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school at all times though as sometimes we get to do extra P.E.!
Our residential trip this year is to Barton Hall. We are off on June 10th and will return on the 14th! How exciting!!
The KS2 SATS are scheduled to take place between May 13th-17th. Please avoid booking holidays between these dates.
If you have any concerns about your child please callin and ask to speak to either Mrs Makelis or Mrs Jones and we will be happy to help.
