Dear Year 4 parents,
We wanted to reassure you that during this time of school closure, we are here to support you and your families to the best of our ability.
We understand that many of you will be looking after children who are in a range of year groups and so we want to provide you with a manageable solution whilst they are at all at home. Children are not expected to follow lessons as they would do at school but can be involved in a range of purposeful learning activities, so please do not feel under pressure to replicate a classroom situation. However, many of the suggestions that we will make will be familiar to the children so that, as far as possible, we can provide some continuity between home and school. Children of key workers, who are attending school during this time due to emergency childcare needs, will be involved in the same learning activities that are uploaded onto class web pages. They have been provided with their books in case the situation at school or home changes and should bring these to school every day.
We intend to signpost suggested activities on a weekly basis so please look at this web page every Monday for new learning opportunities although during the Easter break, we will simply upload some suggestions for some seasonal activities so that families can, as far as possible, achieve a separation between holiday and term time. In particular, we are very mindful of the impact that not attending school may have on children’s emotional well-being. Therefore, to try and counter the impact of social distancing and self-isolation during these challenging times, we will also be contacting you with online solutions so that children can remain in touch with the school community.
The following websites have very useful support materials.
We wish you and your families all the very best.
