We need light to see. Light comes from different sources called light sources; our main natural light source is the sun. Other sources include fire, stars and man-made light sources such as light-bulbs and torches. Pupils have begun to fully explore ‘light’. They are learning to understand that they need light to see and that light is reflected from surfaces. They have carried out experiments to explore shadows and learn how shadows are formed when a light source is blocked by an opaque item. Children have also considered the dangers of looking directly at light-sources (mainly the sun). Below, you can see some controlled experiments where the pupils learnt more about ‘constants’ and ‘variables’ in experiments. Ask them all about it as they were excited and amazed about these experiments!
