Phase 5

Phase 5  introduces alternative spellings for sounds already learnt. Children master these in reading first, and as their fluency develops, they begin to use them  correctly in their writing.

They learn about split digraphs (the ‘magic e’) such as the a-e in ‘name.’

A new list of tricky words are added to read and write.
