Welcome to Year 6!
This year we will be learning all about Ancient Greece., the Amazon and the Vikings. Find out more by reading through the Parent Topic Information sheets below.
Your child should bring a reading book and reading diary home with them everyday. It would be great if you could read with your child two or three times a week and question them about what they have read. This really helps to develop comprehension skills. Please sign the reading diary when you have listened to your child read.
Your child should bring a list of spellings home with them on a Wednesday. They are tested on these words the following Wednesday so please ensure they practice the words at home. A good way of doing this is by reading the word, covering it and then having a go at writing it.
Homework is given to your child every other Friday and should be returned to school on the Thursday of the following week.
Please continue to encourage your child to learn their times tables. Knowing them really helps in many aspects of maths. they are tested on their times table knowledge every Friday.
P.E. is on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school at all times though as sometimes we get to do extra P.E.!
Our residential trip this year is to Barton Hall. This trip provides the children with a fantastic experience of outdoor educational activities and will take place between Monday 26th June and Wednesday 28th June, 2017.
The KS2 SATS are scheduled to take place between May 8th-11th, 2017
