Kent's Cavern Prehistory - Stone age

On November 10th, Year 3 went to Kent's Cavern near Torquay. It is home to the oldest home in the UK.

We had 2 great guides who took us on a  tour of a prehistoric cave. Along the way we saw Victorian cave graffiti, left by those who explored the cave in the late 1800s. We stood in the same places and  touched the same rocks as people who lived approximately 4000 years ago.

We thought like historians and made inferences about what archaeologists had found and are still finding. An exciting part of the day was handling replica skulls of the first species of humans and bones that have been found that were used as tools and weapons.

We had lunch (a highlight of the day) and explored the woodland walk to find Stone Age animals and information about the people.

Thank you to the adults helpers who make up our adult numbers. It was very kind and hopefully it wasn't too stressful.
