The Box - Ancient Egypt
Year 3 had an exciting day out at The Box, Plymouth.
We were assistant curators during a workshop that enabled us to handle real artefacts that were 3000 years old. A mummified creatures sarcophagus, amulets and goddess statues as well as jewellery and grave possessions.
We measured, weighed, sketched and asked questions whilst peering and handling our delicate artefacts.
We also got to look at the Stone Age, Bronze age and Iron age displays from our previous history units and other interesting galleries.
The historians who lead our activities were impressed by our historical enquiry skills and our knowledge.
The children were a credit to the school and made the surrounding public comment on their behaviour and manners.
