Religious Education (RE)
RE Curriculum at Pomphlett
Our main aim of religious education at Pomphlett is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
During a child’s time at Pomphlett, they will learn about diverse religions and world views including Christianity, Islam, Hindu and Judaism. Through our teaching, we recognise the diversity of the UK as well as the importance of learning about the religion and the world views. We examine closely the life of a child living in the UK with their religious views and the life of children across the world and their views. Our R.E. curriculum is supported by the Devon and Torbay Agreed Syllabus
Under the provisions of the Education Reform Act 1988 all parents have a right to withdraw their child from the school’s daily ‘Collective Act of Worship’ or from R.E. lessons.
