  • CROSS COUNTRY

    Mon 01 Feb 2016

On Friday 29th January our Year 5 and 6 Cross Country team ventured to Oreston School to take part in the first of the PAAC Cross Country league races. On a very wet and muddy field, the children competed against the other 6 Plymstock Primary Schools. First up were the Year 5s, with two top 10 finishers: Finley - 7th and Aimee - 2nd, gaining a super silver medal! Next up were the Year 6s, with three top 10 places: Cleo - 7th, Jack - 5th and Leah 3rd with a wonderful Bronze medal!

Every single member of the team completed their very tough races and showed great commitment and determination throughout! We are very proud of you all!

Look out for more Cross Country news as the next race is on Friday (5 February) at Wembury!

  • Year 5&6 Dry-Land Rowing

    Mon 01 Feb 2016

During January, Years 5 and 6 have been taking part in dry land rowing sessions as part of the sports provision we buy into which is offered by the Plymouth School Sports Partnership. During these sessions, the fastest rowers were selected to represent Pomphlett in the Plymouth Schools competition. This took place on Thursday 28th January at Plymstock School. Our team of 8 Year 6s took part in two events, an individual timed row and the team row.

There were some outstanding results in the individual events, where every competitor raced as fast as they could to get the furthest distance in 2 minutes (Harrison - 3rd, Morgan - 5th, Leah - 6th, Cleo - 9th) with all distances counting towards the team score. Next came the tricky team rowing relay. This involved all team members rowing consecutively for 30 seconds, each on one rowing machine to get the furthest distance they could in 4 minutes. Smooth transitions were essential and teamwork a necessity to get the result they wanted! Once all the scores were added up from the 43 school teams that had entered, Pomphlett had achieved an amazing 4th place - only 3m behind the bronze medal position! So close!!!

We are incredibly proud of everyone involved as they showed sheer grit and determination and fantastic Pomphlett teamwork. Well done to all members of the team, which, as well as those children already mentioned above, Jack , Anthony, Lauren and Elissa !

  • 6-A-SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

    Mon 01 Feb 2016
On Monday 25th January our Year 5 and 6 football team ventured out to Goals to take part in the annual 6-a-side tournament. We played well, winning two matches, drawing two and losing two. This led us to finish third in the group and narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. A massive well done to the whole team (Jack, Oliver, James, Javier, Luke, Ben, Frank and Finley) who represented us incredibly well and were a credit to the school.

  • Mighty Multi Skills in Key Stage 1

    Tue 03 Nov 2015

12 children from Years 1 and 2 walked over to Plymstock on Wednesday 9th October to take part in the first PAAC Multi Skills event of the year.

The children took part in events that tested their speed, agility and strength to earn points for our school.

Leaders from Plymstock School helped with the activities and our children really benefited from working with older role models.

Many thanks to Mrs Traylor and Mrs Aish who took them, and well done to all that took part.
