  • SCHOOL CLOSED ON THURSDAY 1 MARCH

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

Pomphlett will be closed all day on Thursday 1 March due to deteriorating weather, health and safety concerns, unsafe travel conditions and the amber alert.

We anticipate re-opening on Friday 2nd March at the normal time.

Please see the item below for information about school closures.

  • SCHOOL CLOSED DUE TO SNOW

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

POMPHLETT PRIMARY SCHOOL CLOSURE TODAY (WEDNESDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2018)

The school is closing at 1pm today due to poor weather conditions. Please collect your child by then. You are free to collect your child any time beforehand if you wish.

Decisions concerning school closures are made on an individual school basis and according to local circumstances by the Head Teacher in consultation with their Chair of Governors. Our Chair of Governors and I assessed the situation this morning, taking into account the following:

    1. The safety and accessibility of the site and surrounding area
    2. The availability of heat, light, power and water
    3. Availability of staff
    4. Availability of meals

We were primarily concerned about numbers 1 and 3 above, particularly due to a deteriorating weather forecast for the remainder of the day and the need for families and staff to get home safely , especially those who live further afield.

    REOPENING

The weather forecast for the remainder of today, overnight and tomorrow is for more snow, with temperatures not getting above freezing, which, unless conditions significantly improve, make a closure tomorrow (Thursday 1 March) likely. However, A DECISION TO CLOSE TOMORROW HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN. We are monitoring weather conditions closely and will make a decision as soon as possible if the school is to remain closed tomorrow. We will publicise this to parents via text, email, our Facebook page and on this website as soon as a decision is made. The very latest time a decision to close will be made will be by 7am tomorrow morning.

  • PAAC Cross Country - Dunstone

    Fri 23 Feb 2018
Friday 23rd February saw the first of this years PAAC Cross Country League take place at Dunstone Primary School. Our Year 5 and 6 teams competed against schools from the Plymstock area in the rather chilly conditions. In each race the children earn points that count towards the school total at the end of the league, but each week there are also prizes given to the fastest 3 runners. This week Pomphlett came home with two silver medals! Alfie in the Year 5 boys race and Jessie in the Year 6 girls race. Well done to the whole team, for many of whom it was their first race. We now look forward to next weeks race at Wembury.

On Sunday 4th February children from Years 1-6 visited Plymouth Pavilions to take part in a Raiders Basketball Clinic. They were taught new tricks by the coaches before meeting the players. We were then joined by lots of parents who came to watch the Raiders game against Sheffield Sharks.
