  • Bettison Cup Football

    Sun 13 Oct 2013

Our fantastic Year 5 and 6 Football Team ventured across to Plymstock School to take part in the Bettison Cup On Friday night. They braved the cold conditions and came second in their group, narrowly missing out on a place in the finals in the last game of the night.

The boys beat both Glen Park and Hooe Schools 2-0, held Stowford to a 0-0 draw and lost a very tight game against Leigham 1-0 (the eventual winners of the group).

Compared to the other schools we fielded a younger and smaller side, however the boys were more often than not the better team, showing great communication and sporting skills. Many thanks to all the parental support on the night and Steve Knight, our team coach. Well done to Ben S, Tom B, Pacey K, James T, James R, Zac A, William H, Oliver H, and Max W. You did us proud!
  • Raiders Basketball Clinic

    Fri 11 Oct 2013

17 children and their families enjoyed an afternoon with the Plymouth Raiders basketball team over the weekend. The children took part in a 1 1/2 hour basketball workshop, then met the Raiders team, before watching an epic game against the Newcastle Eagles! Everyone had a fantastic time and we are already looking forward to our next clinic after Christmas.
  • SCHOOL CLOSED ON THURSDAY 17th OCTOBER DUE TO INDUSTRIAL ACTION

    Fri 11 Oct 2013

TEACHERS’ INDUSTRIAL ACTION THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER

I wrote to you recently to make you aware of proposed joint strike action being carried out across the south-west region by the National Union Of Teachers (NUT) and the National Union of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT).  The strike is now going ahead and will affect the school. I have consulted our Chair of Governors and together we have decided to fully close the school on the day for health and safety reasons.

This action will mean that Pomphlett Primary School will be closed next Thursday, 17th October to ALL children. Parents should make alternative arrangements for the care of their child(ren) on that day. School will re-open to children as normal on Friday 18th October.

We regret any inconvenience caused to parents and carers but hope everyone understands this action is part of a nationally coordinated  programme of industrial action in opposition to the government’s policies regarding teachers’ Pay and Pensions.

  • Raiders basketball clinic - Sunday 6th October

    Fri 20 Sep 2013

Letters have been sent out today inviting children to attend a Plymouth Raiders basketball clinic, and watch them play the Newcastle Eagles, on Sunday 6th October.

The price for children to take part and watch the game is a fantastic £10! An absolute bargain for this type of experience.

Parents, family and friends can also purchase tickets to watch the game. Unfortunately I made a mistake on the costs of extra family ticket prices on the letter (I blame the fact it was Friday!) so the prices are as follows:

    Adult - £9
    Concessions (Over 60s, Children under 16, Students)  - £5
    Family (2 adults, 2 children OR 1 adult, 3 children) - £22

If you and your child are interested please send in the letter form with payment by Thursday 26th September

    Many Thanks

    Mrs Jarvis
