Eggbuckland Cross Country
Wed 03 Oct 2018Tonight our super cross country team took part in the first race of the season at Eggbuckland Community College over a mile long course. This was part of the Plymouth School Sports Partnership League with schools from across the city taking part. Our children were keen to get going and showed outstanding perseverance and determination over the long and hilly course. We are incredibly proud of the whole team, but special mention must go to Mia-Grace (3rd Y3/4 girls), Alfie (3rd Y5/6 Boys) and Charlie (1st Y3/4 boys) who scooped their first medals of the year, and also Evelyn (Y6) who was pipped at the post into 4th place! What a cracking sunny start to our 2018/19 cross country season! -
Primary & Special Schools Football
Wed 19 Sep 2018Our team of 5 boys took part in the first sports festival of the year. They ventured to Goals Soccer Centre where they competed against 8 other teams in the Primary and Special Schools Football Festival put on by Plymouth School Sports Partnership. The focus for the morning was on the values of respect, determination and team work, which they all showed throughout. The team star of the day was Joseph who earned a medal for his excellent team work and moving between positions in different matches. Special mention must also go to Alfie, who showed brilliant sportsmanship when playing against other schools. Thanks go to Mrs Whitley and Miss Hele for taking them on this wonderful sporting experience. -

NEW SCHOOL YEAR CHANGES
Mon 03 Sep 2018Staff are in school today (Monday 3rd September) and tomorrow for training and to get ready for the first day of term for children on Wednesday 5th September. Pomphlett's world cup prediction! England win in a nail-biting penalty shoot out. Croatian's distraught.
Wed 11 Jul 2018Today y5 tried to predict what the score might be in England's match. It was an intense battle but England came out on top. The full time score was 0-0 so penalties followed. England finally beat Croatia 1-0. Let's hope this is a good omen for tonight! -
Devon Ability Games
Thu 21 Jun 2018Today Joseph (y3) and Christopher (y5) attended the Devon Ability Games at Marjons. It was a wonderful event, hosting 300 children from across the county. The boys had the opportunity to try lots of different sports and thinking challenges as well as meet other children from different schools. As you can see by the photos, they had an amazing time and were wonderful representatives of the school. Well done boys! Many thanks to Mrs Whitley and Miss Hele for taking them. -

Health Week
Mon 18 Jun 2018We have had a great start to Health Week 2018.
On Monday, Premier Sport came into school all day to deliver archery to Foundation and Key Stage 1, followed by fencing to Key Stage 2. The children loved the new sports and learnt lots of new skills.
On Tuesday we were due to have sports day but the typical British summer weather did us proud and provided heavy drizzle all day! We had to postpone the event due to the slippery conditions for the obstacle races and they will now be held next Thursday 28th pm for KS2 and Friday 29th am for KS1. We were saved by our fantastic coaches from Premier Sport who stayed with us for the day and allowed the children to try the activity that they hadn't done on the Monday. KS1 loved the fencing and KS2 scored well on the archery. Thank you to Mr B and Miss Wallis for saving the day so that the children could still participate in sports events. Year 3 and 4 also held their own Boccia competition during the afternoon in the hall. This promoted inclusion sports and great team work and communication.
On Wednesday the school took part in our Health Week competition - the importance of play and sport in education. The children have been thinking about why it is so important to be active and healthy, and how their time in school promotes this through the opportunities we provide for them. In the afternoon we held a big screen showing of the Portugal vs Morocco World Cup game in the hall. Lots of children chose to come and watch and Year 4 even made flags supporting their chosen team!
On Thursday we were visited by Alex from Team Rubicon who began our Skateability sessions. The children have loved their introduction to Skateboarding and were soon showing off their tricks. Even Mr Spamer showed some skills - but a definite need for the safety gear (and first aid!)
